Step 1 Check Whether It’s a Power Issue

Before assuming the opener is damaged, confirm it has power:

If Steps 1 through 3 haven’t resolved the issue, look for physical damage to the door system:

Torsion spring. Look at the horizontal bar above the door. A torsion spring with a visible gap in the coil is broken. The door won’t operate properly with a broken spring, and you shouldn’t force it. This is the most common physical failure we see after storms where the power flickers and the opener cycles unexpectedly during a failed close. A spring assessment is needed before the door can be safely used.

Panels. Look for panels dented inward hard enough to interfere with the track or with adjacent panels during operation. Minor hail dimpling doesn’t affect operation. A panel pushed more than an inch inward in a critical section can cause binding.
